Entebbe International Airport registered a notable increase in passenger traffic and cargo movement in October 2024, according to the latest statistics released by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

Vianney Mpungu Luggya, the Manager of Public Affairs at UCAA, reported that the airport handled a total of 183,728 international passengers in October 2024. This figure is broken down into 90,762 arriving passengers and 92,966 departing passengers. The daily average of 5,926 passengers is an increase from the 5,545 passengers handled per day in October 2023.

"The increase in passenger numbers reflects a steady recovery in international travel and the growing confidence among travellers," Luggya noted. He added that despite a slight dip from September 2024's average of 6,290 passengers per day, the figures for October demonstrate sustained growth in airport traffic.

In terms of cargo, Entebbe International Airport facilitated a total of 1,798 metric tonnes of imports and 4,027 metric tonnes of exports in October 2024, combining for a total of 5,825 metric tonnes of cargo.

"The cargo movement statistics underline Entebbe International Airport’s crucial role in facilitating trade and supporting the economy. The significant volume of exports is particularly encouraging as it shows robust commercial activity," Luggya explained.
