Police investigations into the shooting of renowned Kisoro lawyer is being derailed by lack of clues after the scene was tampered with by relatives of the deceased.

“Like I said yesterday the scene was tampered with so we cannot use a sniffer dog, which would have given us some clues in our investigation,” Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate has said.

He reveals that detectives on ground to investigate the matter are yet to make any headway at the moment. “The CID team is on ground but there is nothing,” he added. 40-year old Isaac Ssendegeya, a prominent lawyer in Kisoro district was gunned down by unknown assailants on Sunday at around 2am as he entered his house in Nturo Village, Nyakinama Subcounty.

The lawyer died on the spot after gunshots in the back. Maate told the media on Sunday that although Police was notified and immediately visited the scene, it had already been tampered with by relatives and neighbours who had moved the body to the sitting room.

Maate explains that apart from the cartridge recovered from the scene yesterday, there is no arrest yet.
