A 27 year old man was on Sunday morning shot dead by a security guard after he sneaked into Kyambogo University's Kabojja students hostel in Banda B11, Nakawa Division, Kampala.
The deceased has been identified as Doribert Atwesigye, an employee of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC). Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says Atwesigye who had come to visit a girlfriend, reportedly got an argument with the security guard, Alkangelo Kiiza Araali prompting him to shoot and injure him. The victim was rushed to Iran Uganda Hospital in Naguru where he died later.
The security guard who is attached to Millennium Security Company was eventually arrested by the police in Banda and his gun no. SR UG PSO 12085000-03817 with one round of live ammunition recovered. He is charged with murder. The case has been registered at Banda Police Station, reference SD06/29/9/2019
Meanwhile a government sponsored student of Medical Radiology at Makerere University has reportedly committed suicide. Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says 22 year Ashraf Nsubuga who is in his fourth year was found hanging on a rope in his room’s doorway on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was a resident of Nsibirwa Annex PAB 3. Owoyesigyire says the scene has been visited and the body taken for postmortem. “The reason behind his suicide is not yet known. Inquiries still on into this matter,” he said.
