A 35 year old woman in Kigorobya town council, Hoima district on Wednesday night handed herself to police confessing to the murder of the husband for reportedly being HIV positive.
The suspect, Joan Twinomujuni, a resident of Kijumba village, Kigorobya town council allegedly hit Emmanuel Tusiime (35) on the head with an axe killing him on the spot. The deceased was a driver with China Chongqing International Construction Company-CICO, the Hoima-Biiso-Wanseko road contractor.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says Twinomujuni got angry on learning that the husband was HIV positive and that he had enrolled for antiretroviral therapy without her knowledge.
“After realizing that the husband was lifeless, the suspect locked the body inside their house and jumped on a bodaboda to Hoima Police Station, where she reported the incident on Wednesday night,” Hakiza said. He confirmed that the gruesome incident had happened at around 8pm.
The suspect is now detained at Hoima Police station pending murder charges. Police visited the scene on Wednesday morning and released the body to relatives for burial after postmortem.
