Jinja Road Police have arrested two suspects for reportedly forging the Covid-19 car stickers.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says Jinja Road Police officers intercepted a driver only identify as Julius at the check point with a forged sticker and on interrogation, he revealed who had sold it to him.

“Yesterday 24/04/2020 Julius led a team of detectives from Jinja Road Police Station to Namungona Zone 1 at Luyinja area where Dickson Mugarura was arrested at his home. After a search of Mugarura's home, police recovered 29 forged Covid-19 car stickers,” Onyango explained, adding that the suspects are currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station pending production in court on Monday over forgery charges.

“We appeal to members of the public not to be deceived into buying forged stickers because our officers are on the lookout for culprits,” Onyango said.

President Yoweri Museveni recently imposed a ban on public transport as one of the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. As a result only vehicles with stickers issued by the Ministry of Works and Transport are the ones allowed on road.
