Police in Katwe are holding two notorious fraudsters for obtaining shs75million by false pretence.

The suspects identified as Samuel Twinamatsiko, 25 and Albert Akatukunda, 40 years, are all Land brokers and residents of Nsambya, Kampala.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says the duo was picked up by the Police 999 Unit during a joint operation in Nsambya on Wednesday night. ”The fraudsters were arrested in Nsambya during a joint operation carried out by Police 999 Unit and detectives that laid a strategic trap at Nsambya, opposite the hospital,” Onyango said.

It’s alleged that on Wednesday at around 9pm, the Police 999 Unit received information about hardcore conmen that have been terrorizing Kampala and that the group was being investigated by Kampala Metropolitan Police South for fraud. “According to available information the thugs had earlier defrauded one Leo Nampongo of Shs75 million under unclear circumstances,” Onyango said.

“A trap was laid and two suspects were arrested namely Twinamastsiko Samuel aged 25 and Akatukunda Albert, 40 years, all Land brokers and residents of Nsambya,” he explained in a statement. The two suspects are now being detained at Katwe Police Station on charges of forgery and obtaining money by false pretence.

“The detectives are working on their files and we appeal to anybody who has ever been defrauded by this group to report to the nearest Police Station or come to Katwe Police Station,”Onyango said.
