The Police in Namanve along the Kampala-Jinja highway are hunting for the driver of a motor vehicle registration number UAS 597U PRADO, for reportedly knocking a traffic officer along the same route.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says the unidentified driver knocked the unnamed officer on Sunday evening at about 7:20PM and drove off. “You knocked our Traffic Officer at Namanve along Kampala-Jinja highway and you refused to stop,” Onyango posted on social media, imploring the driver to immediately report to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile it wasn’t immediately clear from Onyango on whether the traffic officer died in the accident or not. The accident happens at the time of lockdown, when transport has been barred in view of the coronavirus. Only government vehicles and private ones with stickers are allowed on road.

While announcing the transport ban during one of his national addresses on coronavirus, President Museveni said the ban on both public and private transport was intended to rejulate movement and check spread of the coronavirus.
