Police have distanced themselves from an advert calling those interested in joining the force to apply for consideration.
According to police deputy spokesperson ACP Polly Namaye, they have not issued any advert concerning the recruitment of cops.
"Our attention has been drawn to a fake advert making rounds on social media about Police recruitment," Namaye said in a statement.
"This is to clarify that we have not issued nor advertised recruitment into the Uganda Police Force. We shall issue a formal communication on our official social media platforms and the media on recruitment in case we are to have one."
The police spokeswoman says the perpetrators behind the advert intend to defraud members of the public.
"Our cybercrime unit is doing it's best to bring those behind this fraudulent act to book," she concluded.
