The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has sanctioned the charge file of the Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu over Karamoja iron sheets.
Minister Kitutu was on Tuesday handed over to Parliament CID Police by the Parliamentary Committee on Presidential Affairs where she was later detained at Kibuli CID. Kitutu is accused of diverting iron sheets meant for the people of Karamoja by distributing them to her fellow cabinet Ministers and other people including MPs.
In a tweet posted by the Office of DPP on Wednesday night, Kitutu will on Thursday be arraigned in court and charged.
"The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has sanctioned charges of corruption and conspiracy to commit a felony against Hon. Kitutu Mary Goretti Kimono for diverting iron sheets meant for the Karamoja Community Empowerment Programme," the tweet reads.
It adds," the DPP Jane Frances Abodo has consented to the charges. The Police have been directed to produce the Minister in court for plea tomorrow."
