Police in Kasangati have arrested a man suspected of involvement in multiple aggravated robberies and murders across central and eastern Uganda.
The suspect, identified as Imanantireganya Alfadudu, alias "Congolese," was apprehended on May 9 at around 10pm in Bulamu Cell, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District.
During interrogation, Alfadudu told police he and his accomplices, including Mozy, Mapengo, and others, used a SAR rifle in their crimes.
He said the weapon was hidden at the home of Ivulungo Bumali in Girigiri Village, Mayuge District.
A joint security team raided the house and recovered the rifle, two hammers, a knife, and jackets.
Ivulungo and his wife were arrested to aid investigations. Police believe the rifle was stolen during a Mukono robbery in October 2024.
"Operations to arrest the remaining suspects are ongoing," said Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke.
