UPDF forces under Operation Shujaa in eastern DRC have captured Allied Democratic Forces leader Musa Baluku's base camp in Apakwang, Ituri Province.
According to Col. Chris Magezi, the military assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces, last Sunday morning there were air and artillery strikes, after which UPDF troops advanced and captured a huge camp that used to accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 terrorists and their families. He said this was achieved on Thursday, July 10.
According to Col. Magezi, the UPDF forces also captured large gardens of rice, beans, and cassava. "Hot pursuit of fleeing ADF remnants further west in the offensive is ongoing," he said.
The UPDF has hailed its Operation Shujaa partner, FARDC, for their cooperation and comradeship.
