Uganda Revenue Authority has appointed Mr Abel Kagumire as the substantive Commissioner Customs, replacing Mr Dicksons Kateshumbwa who prematurely resigned from the tax body in May.
Mr Kagumire describes himself on his twitter account as "Patriotic, Passionate about Trade Facilitation, Service with Integrity & Capacity Building."
He has previously served as Assistant Commissioner Customs Audit and Manager Customs at URA in the last over 17 years at the tax collection institution.
The appointment follows the URA Board of Directors Special Board meeting held on 26th August, 2020 where Mr Kagumire was among candidates interviewed for the vacant Senior Management positions in the Departments of Customs, Corporate Services and Domestic Taxes.
Other appointments are Commissioner Corporate Services - Mr Richard Kariisa and John Tinka Katungwensi - Assistant Commissioner large taxpayers' office.
The effective date for the above appointments is 1st September, 2020 according to a statement issued by URA.
