Over 400 students are set to graduate with First Class degrees at Makerere University next week.
The 70th graduation is scheduled for the 14th to 17th January this year. According to the list released by the Office of the Academic Registrar 13,509 students will graduate in different disciplines with a total of 420 obtaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) above 4.40, thus attaining First Class Degrees.
This year’s best student is Rita Namukose from Makerere University Business School (MUBS). The Bachelor of International Business student obtained CGPA of 4.92, while Sarah Namayengo topped in sciences. She got a CGPA of 4.83 in Bachelor of Conservation Forestry and Product Technology of Makerere University.
Out of the 420 first class degree holders, 195 are from MUBS.
No First Class Degree in Law School
College of Humanities topped with 50 students in first class, College of Education (36), College of Agriculture (31), College of Computing (30), while College of Engineering (29).
College of Business (26), College of Veterinary (12), College of Natural Sciences (9) and College of Health Science (1). The School of Law did not register any student in first class.
The University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe says all is set for the 70th graduation ceremony, but emphasizes that graduands must have cleared with their academic units, halls of residence, as well as the university library, hospital, police station and finance department to be eligible for graduation.
