The Government through the Ministry of Education and Sports has announced Selection dates for Senior one and five students for the new academic year slated to start in January 2022.
In a communication issued by Education Ministry Permanent Secretary, Ketty Lamaro, the selection exercise will be conducted in Kampala at Kololo Independence Grounds from 25th to 29th October 2021.
“To limit and control numbers, each school will be represented by one participant, the Head teacher, should come with the official identity card,” the statement reads.
About 2,000 participants are expected to attend this selection exercise. “…and in view of COVID-19, the participants will be attending in groups of 500 per day and therefore the real section will take 4 days,” PS Lamaro said.
With regards to COVID-19, participants will be screened at Kololo Senior Secondary School. The Ministry of Education has also announced that there will be no admissions for Primary Teachers Colleges for grade III certificate courses. Meanwhile, the selection exercise for learners joining technical schools, community polytechnics and technical institutes will be conducted at a later date.
