The Minister of Education and sports, Janet Museveni has handed over 100 computers to support the digitalization of education services in public universities.

The consignment that was supplied by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance through the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) was on Tuesday handed over to the Vice-Chancellors of the benefitting public universities. The hand over took place at State House, Nakasero in presence of different vice chancellors and UCC officials led by the Executive Director, Irene Kaggwa Sewankambo.

In a tweet, Mrs Museveni lauded the ministry for supporting the digital agenda in the education sector.

“The Ministry would like to supply the universities will all their needs, but it still has limitations. I’m grateful to the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and the Uganda Communications Commission for supporting the digital agenda for the Education and Sports sector,” she said.

Since 2003, UCC, through the Rural Communications Development Fund, has implemented several ICT projects especially in rural areas with over 1,000 computers supplied to different schools.
