Uganda stands higher chances to qualify for the Total Championship of African Nations (CHAN) 2020 after a 3-0 victory against Burundi, in the second round qualifier game played at the Intwari Stadium in Bujumbura on Saturday.
Goals from Viane Sekajugo, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Mustafa Kizza led Uganda to victory on the colourful evening. Sekajugo, a player with Wakiso Giants scored the opener in the 12th minute for the slim 1-0 lead.
Two late strikes from Mutyaba and Kizza, both KCCA players crowned the evening for the team coached by interim head coach Abdallah Mubiru. As the match progressed, the technical team called for all the three mandatory changes.
Teenager Bright Anukani came on for Allan Okello, Yusuf Ssozi replaced Nicholas Kasozi and Shafiq Kagimu paved way for Mike Mutyaba. The return leg will be played on 18th October 2019 at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo with the overall winner on aggregate making it to the final tournament that will be staged in Cameroon next year.
