Uganda is expecting 15.4 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines as the East African nation ramps up the vaccination campaign to fully re-open the economy in January of 2022.

President Yoweri Museveni said Saturday during a televised national address that the vaccines, which will be shipped in by the end of December, will include 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca, Sinopharm (1.7m), Sinovac (600,000), J&J (9m), and Pfizer (2.9m).

The president urged Ugandans to embrace the campaign as the doses, including the 15.5 million that are already in the country, will be enough to vaccinate over 20 million eligible Ugandans.

As of November 19, according to the ministry of health, 6,072,617 doses of vaccines had been administered.
