Members of Parliament representing the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have donated theatre equipment to Bombo General Military Hospital to improve healthcare services for soldiers and their families.
The MPs raised Shs500 million, which was used to develop infrastructure in military schools and procure essential medical equipment for military hospitals.
During the handover ceremony, Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs (Veteran Affairs) Huda Abason Oleru commended the MPs for their commitment to supporting the military community. She urged them to sustain such initiatives, noting that the donation would also benefit civilians who struggle to access medical care.
Gen. Wilson Mbadi, the State Minister of Trade, said the donation was part of a larger plan by the 10 UPDF MPs to improve military healthcare and infrastructure. He assured that they would continue lobbying for more funds to support military hospitals.
Maj. Gen. Dr. Ambrose Musinguzi, Chief of Joint Staff Health Services, expressed gratitude for the MPs’ contribution. He noted that the hospital had acquired two operation tables and anaesthetic machines through their support.
Senior military officials, including Maj. Gen. Henry Masiko, Chief Political Commissar, attended the event alongside Col. Victoria Nekesa, Col. Dr. Ambrose Oiko, Lt. Col. Jennifer Alanyo, and other officers.
