The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has today unveiled a Belgian Joseph Paul Put as the new head coach of Uganda Cranes.

During a press conference to unveil the new coach at FUFA Complex House, FUFA President, Hon. Moses Magogo said they have confidence in the new coach.

"Coach Paul Put helped Burkina Faso reach the final of AFCON in 2013, guided Guinea to a quarterfinal finish and also helped the Gambia to qualify for AFCON. With such a CV, we believe the coach will do a good job here," Magogo said.

For the last two months, FUFA embarked on the process of getting a new coach following the sacking of Serbian Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic in September.

"FUFA rolled out an application process and we got over 150 coaches including 2 Ugandans who applied for the job. After thorough analysis, the FUFA Executive zeroed down on Mr. Paul Put and we believe he will do a good job," Magogo said.

He added that this time, FUFA have allowed the coach to appoint his own backroom staff.

"He (Put) is coming with five other people from Belgium. However, there will be Ugandans who will work as part of the backroom staff," he said.

As part of the backroom staff, Head Coach Put will work with Sven De Wilde as Performance Manager, Mathieu Denis as Physical Fitness Coach, Gery Osste as Goalkeeping Coach, Martin Michiel as Physiotherapist and Jelle Sevenhant as Video analyst.

"The Ugandan personnel who will be part of the backroom staff will be communicated later and shall report to camp as and when International engagements are lined up," Magogo added.

In his maiden address as Head coach, Put said told the press, "Please give me time, give me the confidence. You will see a different national team."

Paul Put was head coach in different national teams including Congo, Kenya, Guinea among others.
