Uganda’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa led parliamentarians sitting in Brussels to appeal for Africa to gain more power at the United Nations with a strong demand that the continent receives two permanent seats on the UN Security Council.

Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni, while meeting, in Kampala, the AU’s committee that is championing Africa’s representation on the UNSC of which Uganda is one, recently, demanded for the reformation of the UN security council.
Kenya has won the UN Security Council seat after beating Djibouti in the second round of voting.
The contest between Kenya and Djibouti headed to the second round of voting Thursday after the first phase saw Nairobi’s victory insufficient to win the UN seat.
