Miss Tourism Uganda campaign, which has been running for months now, was over the weekened taken to Fort Portal, where three queens from Tooro region qualified for the national competition that will be held in the coming month.

The Miss Tourism search events have also been held in West Nile, Teso, Bunyoro, Ankole, Busoga and Karamoja. Mbale, and FortPortal are the latest hosts.

University students dominated this year’s search. The regional winners will face off at the Miss Tourism grand finale on September 23 at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The pageantry saw Kahunde Kasfah Adyeeri crowned as the queen, with Sylvia Collins Kasemiire following her as the first runner-up and the second runner-up was Diana Musiimenta.

Conservationists and environmentalists who attended the event have presented a proposal about the need to drive a campaign to protect the decreasing glaciers on Fort Portal. 

Uganda is among countries that have been severely hit by climate change. This year’s theme is Rethinking Tourism.

Miss Tourism Uganda has so far moved to eight different regions. The next tour will be in Buganda on September 2.
