The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Justice Mike Chibita has appointed Senior Attorney, Jacquelyn Okui  the Public Relations Officer (PRO).

This follows the recent appointment by the President of the former PRO, Jane Okuo Kajuga as Judge of the High Court.

Jacquelyn Okui graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2005 and completed the Bar course in 2006. She joined the Office of the DPP in 2008 and was posted to Kamuli as Resident State Attorney.

In 2011, she was transferred to Iganga as Resident State Attorney and in 2013, she went to Utrecht University in the Netherlands to pursue a Master of Law in International Human Rights and Criminal Justice which she acquired in 2014. She was thereafter promoted to Senior State Attorney and served in the Appeals Division which she headed until 2016 when she was transferred to the Kampala Regional Office as Deputy Regional Officer.

In 2019, she was moved to the International Crimes Department where she is to date. Okui is a member of the contracts committee in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and represents the directorate in various task forces including the task force assessing Uganda’s readiness to accede to the Budapest Convention.

She will be deputized by Irene Nakimbugwe, who is also a senior state attorney.
