Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has announced that starting Saturday, 4, April, government will provide relief to 1.5m people in Wakiso and Kampala.

According to PM Rugunda, the relief will be distributed at LC1 level with each person getting 6kgs of maize flour, 3kgs of beans. Lactating mothers and the sick will receive 2kgs of powdered milk & 2kgs of sugar.

Rugunda said that the relief committee will be chaired by Musa Ecweru, the state Minister for Disaster Preparedness. He added that the distribution process will be supervised by security personnel. 

This is the latest government intervention towards the fight against COVID19 following the presidential directive that declared total lockdown that started on Tuesday.

President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday announced that the government will be distributing relief to Kampala based people especially those who consume whatever they earn in a day (hand-to-mouth).

On Saturday, The Kampala Post broke the story that government was planning to distribute relief to people in Kampala and Wakiso.
