Kabaka Mutebi Commends Government Efforts Against Coronavirus

The Buganda Kingdom through Prince David Wasajja has handed over a cheque of Ush100 million to the COVID-19 Response Team headed by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda.

The cheque was handed over to the prime minister on April 7, 2020 at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.

Prince Wasajja who represented his brother commended President Museveni and other government leaders involved in the fight against the pandemic.

Prince Wasajja said Uganda has the resources to overcome the pandemic.

“I assure you of the support of the Kabaka and the people of Buganda. We all know what’s supposed to be done to stop the spread of COVID-19. We support and appreciate members of the public who have adhered to the call of the president to stay home,” Wasajja said.

“We also thank the President for providing the leadership that has seen us the country through this crisis so far,” she said.

Dr. Rugunda revealed that the team looking after the funds shall be appointed by the president and will be announced this week to make sure all the money being collected serves the purpose of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several other individuals and business entities have responded to President Museveni's call to join the fight against the Coronavirus.
