Only 30 people will represent the rest of Ugandans to celebrate the 31st National Heroes' Day at State House, Entebbe.

Esther Mbayo, the Minister for Presidency said in a statement that President Yoweri Museveni will today preside over the Heroes Day celebration scientifically at State House at 11 am.

“Unlike the previous ones, this year’s anniversary will be held in a scientific way without any public gatherings across the country as we observe the COVID-19 Special Operating Procedures,” Mbayo said, adding that only 30 people will accompany the President for the celebrations at State House.

Minister Mbayo urged Ugandans to celebrate this historical day from their homes and observe safety in this COVID-19 period.

Every year, Uganda celebrates Heroes Day to commemorate countrymen and countrywomen who have selflessly contributed to the liberation struggle and development of this country.

This year’s theme is: “Celebrating a memorable day as we reflect on the selflessness of the heroes/heroines who put nation above all else.”
