Minister Aceng who is an ex-officio, yesterday announced that she will contest for Lira Woman MP seat in 2021. Aceng will have battle it out with outspoken UPC's Joy Atim

"I am confident that I have not let the people of Lango down from the time I worked here for 15years, before I was appointed Director General of Health Services then later Minister of Health. The people have been asking questions and that is why today I have publicly taken up a decision to take up a political position as a representative of Women in Lira District and I will contest for that position," Aceng said.

Aceng added that since the government of Uganda has continously supported her, she will contest under the NRM party.

MP Atim has been occupying the Lira Woman MP seat since 2011. Before her appointment as Director General, Aceng served as a medical officer in Lira Hospital, later on rising to the positional of Acting Director at the regional health facility.
