Parliament will tomorrow hold a special sitting to pay tribute to the fallen legislator Faith Alupo.
"The Parliament of Uganda will hold a special sitting to pay tribute to the Late Faith Alupo on Tuesday 22nd September 2020 at 2:00 p.m," Helen Nanteza Kawesa, the assistant director of communication and public affairs at parliament, said in a statement.
Kawesa also noted that the body will not lie in state at Parliament as is usually the practice for fallen sitting Members of Parliament.
"This is in observance of current funeral regulations in the lockdown period," she said.
The MP's body will be transported to Pallisa District on Wednesday and she'll be buried on that very day.
The Pallisa District woman Member of Parliament died on Sept. 15 while undergoing treatment at Mulago Hospital.
The NRM-leaning legislator became an MP in June 2018 after the former Forum for Democratic Change's (FDC) Woman MP candidate for Pallisa, Catherine Achola was disqualified by the Electoral Commission from the race on grounds that the names she had used for nomination do not tally with those on her academic qualification.
She lost to Kevin Kaala Ojinga in the recently concluded NRM primaries.
