The Special Forces Command (SFC) has unveiled a Statue in honor of President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the 40th Tarehe Sita celebrations.

President Museveni’s Statue was unveiled by the SFC Commander Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba in the presence of the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu among other senior SFC officers.

The function was also witnessed by the Russian Defense Attaché to Uganda Col Alexander Grigoriev and his assistant Lt Col Tarasov.

The Statue is erected at the new headquarters of the Special Forces Command also named the General Yoweri Museveni House.

Gen Kainerugaba who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations hailed President Museveni for offering good leadership to the UPDF and Uganda in general.

“It’s my great pleasure to unveil this statue of our great leader Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as part of our Tarehe Sita commemoration. Once again SFC is leading the way as the first service to have such a Statue,” Gen Kainerugaba said.

The SFC commander urged other UPDF services to have such Statues so that the future generation of young soldiers can know who President Museveni was and how he has led them to victory for over 40 years without losing a single battle.

Gen Kainerugaba also thanked the Russian military attaché to Uganda for witnessing the unveiling of the Statue.

Every February 6, the UPDF marks the attack on Kabamba barracks in 1981, which essentially launched the five-year guerrilla war that eventually brought the NRA/M to power in 1986.

This year’s Tarehe Sita will run under the theme: “Celebrating UPDF at 40; fruits of fulfilled partnership of maintaining and consolidating peoples’ security, stability and prosperity”.
