Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) troops in Nebbi district have apprehended a group of rebels belonging to a new terrorist organization, the Kampala Post has learnt.

Reports reaching our desk from highly placed security sources indicate that last night, a group of eight (8) Uganda Homeland Liberation Force (UHLF) terrorists from DRC was apprehended in Nebbi district after falling into an ambush laid by UPDF Commandos.

"The terrorists had been sent to reconnoiter security installations, attempt to seize some weapons and terrorize the population. However, they fell right into a trap that the Commandos had set for them after being pre-warned by friendly civilians in DRC," a source told this website.

The source added that the terrorists had an assortment of machetes, knives, spears as well as different herbal medicines and lotions.

The UHLF is a newly formed terrorist organization based in Mahagi and Aru in the Ituri region of DRC. They were responsible for the attack in Zombo District in March of last year.

Following those attacks, President Museveni ordered for the deployment of UPDF's lethal Commando Battalion to Nebbi in order to counter threats emanating from Ituri.'
