The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has received his second Covid-19 Vaccine, completing the dose that is required to guard him against the Coronavirus.
Gen Kainerugaba who is also the commander of the Special Forces Command received his first jab on March 16 after which he encouraged all officers and men to embrace it so that they could resume their normal operations like training and operations without the threat of COVID-19.
The SFC commander received the last jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine at the SFC headquarters in Entebbe on Monday morning.
"This morning I received my second dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine. I thank our medical department within the UPDF that continues to vaccinate soldiers and their families," Gen Kainerugaba tweeted after getting his second Covid-19 jab.
After receiving the first jab in March, Gen Kainerugaba thanked President Museveni and the government as well as Uganda's partners for quickly ensuring the availability of the vaccine.
Uganda on Friday started the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination in the country.
The Minister of Health Ruth Aceng, Foreign Affairs minister Sam Kutesa and the World Health Organization representative in Uganda Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam were among those who received their second shot of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at the ministry of health headquarters in the capital, Kampala.
"The ministry of health advises all those who received their first dose and completed eight weeks to visit the nearest vaccination facility for their second. The vaccine is safe and effective," Aceng said after getting her second jab.
On March 10, Uganda launched the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination, targeting high-risk groups such as health workers, teachers, social workers, security personnel, the elderly, and those with underlying medical conditions.
As of Thursday, Uganda had inoculated 472,617 people against COVID-19, a majority of them in Kampala.
