Former Minister of Works and Transport Gen Katumba Wamala is “out of danger”, Brig. Flavia Byekwaso, the defense spokesperson said in a Tuesday afternoon statement.

Gen. Wamala, who was in the company of his daughter and a driver -- were today morning shot at around 8:30am on Kisota Road-Kisaasi by armed assailants were riding on two motorbikes, according to Brig. Byekwaso, who said the daughter and the driver died.

The former UDPF Chief of Defense Forces sustained arm and shoulder injuries after the gruesome incident and he was immediately rushed to a clinic in the area.

“The [General] was evacuated to Malcolm Clinic in Kisaasi from where he was picked for further treatment. Reports from there indicate that he is out of danger and recuperating well,” the defense spokesperson said.
