Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu has assumed office as the acting spokesperson for the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).

Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso, the substantive Army Spokesperson on Tuesday haned over office to Kakurungu as she prepares for the forthcoming military course at National Defence College in Jinja.

Kakurungu who has been serving as UPDF deputy spokesperson. The Handover function was presided over by UPDF Joint Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda.

“I have today officially handed over the Office of Defence Spokesperson to my Deputy Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu as I prepare to attend National Defence College. The function was presided over by UPDF JCOS Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda. I wish Lt Col Kakurungu the very best of luck,” Brig Byekwaso tweeted on Tuesday.

In June last year, Kakurungu replaced Col Deo Akiiki as Deputy Spokesperson of UPDF. Before that, he had served as military publicist officer in several Army Divsions.
