President Yoweri Museveni and the commander-in-Chief has appointed former UPDF MP Maj Gen Francis Takirwa as the deputy commander of Land Forces.

Gen Takirwa served as an Army representative in the 10th Parliament from 2016 to 2021.

In a communication issued by the Deputy Army spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki, Museveni also appointed Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, who has been serving as the chief of joint staff for the Uganda Police as the Acting Chief of Staff for UPDF Land Force.

In the same vein, Museveni has also promoted Brig Gen Bob Ogiki to the rank of Maj Gen and subsequently, appointed him as 2nd Division Commander. Gen Ogiki has served as the Chief of Staff, Land Forces.
