Uganda's ambassador to Kenya Dr Hassan Wasswa Ggaliwango who was recently rushed to hospital has breathed his last at a hospital in Nairobi.

The Minister for East African Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga said Galiwango died Monday morning. 

"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of H.E Dr Galiwango, High Commissioner of Uganda to Kenya, which occurred this morning," Kadaga tweeted Monday morning.

Those familiar with Galiwango's condition say he has been battling heart complications which could have led to his demise.

Prior to his appointment as ambassador, Galiwango served as the director of finance and administration at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party secretariat. He also served as Mbale resident district commissioner and Mbale Industrial Division LC III chairperson. 

Galiwango is also the proprietor of Mbale Progressive secondary school, the pioneer private secondary school in Mbale city. He is also the husband of Mbale City Woman MP, Connie Nakayenze Ggaliwango.
