The Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny-Dollo has reportedly expressed concerns to President Yoweri Museveni regarding the behavior and statements of Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo.

According to a highly placed source that preferred anonymity, the Chief Justice told the President that Opondo ‘has acted independently and no longer accurately represents the government, often presenting his personal opinions on various matters.’

According to the source, Owiny-Dollo highlighted how Opondo's remarks have caused confusion among the public, who struggle to differentiate between his personal views and official government positions.

Specifically, the Chief Justice referenced Opondo's statements on the Baraaro issue in Northern Uganda, noting discrepancies between Opondo's comments and the President's public statements on the matter.

The Chief Justice urged President Museveni to address the leadership dynamics within the Uganda Media Centre, suggesting that ‘both Opondo and Obed Katureebe, his deputy appear more focused on political power struggles rather than effectively communicating government priorities to the public.’
