President Yoweri Museveni has been declared the winner of the 2026 presidential election, securing a fifth term with a significantly larger share of the vote than in the 2021 election.
The Electoral Commission announced Saturday that President Museveni received 71.65% of the vote. His main challenger, Bobi Wine, trailed with 24.72%.
The result marks a notable increase in support for President Museveni. In the 2021 election, Museveni won 58.38% of the vote. The 13-percentage-point increase demonstrates a consolidation of his political base.
