Dates for Museveni Swearing-in Ceremony Announced

President Museveni will be sworn in on May 12, 2026, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.

President Yoweri Museveni will be sworn in on May 12, 2026, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala, according to a special announcement issued by the Uganda Media Centre.

The ceremony will be held under the theme “Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status”.

The Uganda Media Centre Executive Director, Alan Kasujja, said several dignitaries from different countries are expected to attend the event. He added that preparations for the ceremony are already underway. “Following his election victory, President Yoweri Museveni will be sworn in on 12th May 2026,” Kasujja said in the announcement.

The National Organising Committee, led by Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, is handling preparations for the function.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to attract government officials, diplomats and invited guests from across the world. Kololo Ceremonial Grounds traditionally hosts major national events, including presidential inaugurations and national celebrations.

Security agencies and organisers are expected to release further details about attendance, traffic arrangements and accreditation in the coming days as preparations intensify ahead of the event.
