President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday chaired the inaugural Cabinet session of his newly constituted government, signaling the official kickoff of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) administration's five-year agenda.
The meeting marks the first collective gathering of the executive branch following the official swearing-in of the new administration on June 8, 2026.
The session followed a rigorous 10-day Cabinet Induction Retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi, which the President opened on June 15, 2026, to orient both new and returning ministers on leadership ethics and strategic national priorities.
The orientation program successfully aligned the incoming executive team with the government's development goals for the 2026–2031 constitutional term.
The strategic session gathered Uganda's apex political leadership at the state house to initiate executive operations.
The attendance list featured Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Deputy Prime Ministers, and Government Chief Whip Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng.
Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, and senior technical government officials also actively participated in the policy discussions.
The meeting similarly included NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong and Permanent Secretaries from various ministries.
The Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, and the Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security Issues, Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso, also attended the executive session.
The deployment of the executive team marks the formal commencement of state business under President Museveni, who took the oath of office for his current constitutional term on May 12, 2026.
The executive body draws its governance mandate from Article 111 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
The constitutional provision empowers the President to appoint a functional number of ministers required for the efficient administration of the state.
The newly constituted 83-member Cabinet is now tasked with spearheading the aggressive implementation of government programs over the next five years.
