A profound darkness fell across our homeland, and a heavy cloud hangs over the entire global diaspora. As members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) USA chapter and the broader diaspora community at large, we are deeply shaken by the agonizing and profound loss of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
Today, we bow our heads in profound grief, standing in complete solidarity and mourning alongside the Royal Family, the resilient people of Tooro (the Batooro), and all Ugandans worldwide.
The passing of a King is not merely the loss of a leader; it is the closing of a monumental chapter in the identity, heritage, and history of a people. From his historic ascension to the throne as a young child to his years spent championing cultural pride, youth empowerment, and development, His Majesty served with remarkable dignity, grace, and humility that resonated far beyond the borders of the Tooro Kingdom. He carried his people and his culture with honor, leaving behind an enduring legacy that time cannot erase.
Distance does not diminish the pain we feel in the diaspora. Though separated by oceans, our hearts beat as one with our brothers and sisters back home during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family. We pray that the Almighty grants them the divine strength, comfort, and solace required to navigate this devastating loss.
The crown may now sit empty, but the light His Majesty lit in the hearts of his people will continue to shine. As we reflect on his remarkable life and stewardship, we commit ourselves to preserving the unity and cultural wealth he so fiercely protected and to embodying the values of service and pride he instilled in us.
Tooro, mukama abahuumuze kandi abagumye.
May the soul of our revered King rise in glory and find eternal rest. Omukama Rukirabasaija, we bid you a solemn and grateful farewell.
