Former Prime Minister Professor Apolo Nsibambi’s body will on Friday lie in state for Members of Parliament to pay their last respects, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has announced.
Kadaga on Wednesday eulogized Nsibambi as a man who diligently served his country and asked MPs to come and give the former premier a befitting send off when his body lies in state on Friday. The casket containing Nsibambi’s remains will on Friday afternoon be lowered to the parliament chambers where MPs will be expected to pay tribute to the longest serving Prime Minister.
Nsibambi passed on Tuesday evening at his home in Bulange Mengo after losing the battle to prostate cancer at 78 years.
Government has fully taken responsibility on Nsibambi’s burial preparations and the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has constituted a committee for the same after President Yoweri Museveni’s directive.
