The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development will temporarily close its Zonal Land Administration Offices at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to pave way for update of the Land Information System (LIS) software.

Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre on Friday, Lands Minister Betty Amongi said this is part of the ongoing LIS software update exercise the Ministry is doing, adding that the update at KCCA will take two weeks from September 16-26, 2019.

The Minister explained however, during the update, only the KCCA survey and mapping system of the zonal office will be discontinued, but other systems will be operational. She said therefore the Land Registry, KCCA Survey & Mapping sections; and the KCCA Land Offices shall be closed to the public for the duration of four days beginning 23rd September up to 26th September 2019.

“Please note that during the four days of closure (23rd to 26th September) there shall be no transactions received and or registered. The KCCA Land Registry will reopen to the public on 27th September, 2019,” the Minister said. Amongi said however, this temporary closure will not affect the department of physical planning services.

Since March 2013, the Ministry has been implementing and updating the software version being used in the Land Information System for the zonal offices. Amongi revealed that system updates for all the other zonal offices in the country have been completed, apart from KCCA, Mukono and Wakiso.
