Outgoing US Ambassador to Uganda Deborah Malac has commended UPDF for its commitment and sacrifice towards creating peace and stability not only in Uganda but also in the whole region.

Malac made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi at the UPDF Headquarters in Mbuya.

The outing Ambassador who as well bid farewell to the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces, particularly singled out Somalia where the UPDF has been deployed since 2007 under AMISOM. She noted that the situation has improved in Somalia thanks to Uganda's contribution and other Troop Contributing Countries.

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi expressed gratitude towards USA partnership and its government support towards building UPDF capacity as it modernizes. Deborah Malac was early this month replaced with Natalie Brown, who is expected to start work in Uganda next year.

The meeting was also attended by the Joint Chief Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu and US Defence Attache Col Edward Dupont among others.
