The Ministry of Health has deducted all the foreign truck drivers cases from the original number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Uganda.

This now brings the total number of confirmed cases in Uganda down to 145.

"Following a Presidential Directive of deducting all foreign truck drivers from Uganda’s case count, the confirmed COVID-19 cases now stand at 145," Minister of Health Dr Jane Aceng said.

On Wednesday, 10 more people tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the total number of cases in Uganda to 274 including foreign truck drivers.

Out of the 10 cases, nine are truck drivers while one case is a contact to a confirmed truck driver. The new cases were part of 1,497 samples that were tested.

According to Ministry of Health, 124 foreign truck drivers who tested positive have been handed over to their country of origin since Presidential directive last week.
