Olilim Military Training School in Katakwi district is set to get connected to the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI).
According to NITA-U Executive Director, Dr Hatwib Mugasa, Olilim Military Training School and Olilim Health Centre II will in the Financial Year 2021/2022 get internet connectivity.
In July this year, State minister for ICT Peter Ogwang visited Olilim Military Training School where the leadership there asked him to among others connect internet to the military school and Olilim Health Centre II.
Indeed, Minister Ogwang wrote to NITA-U that is supervised by the Ministry of ICT, to respond swiftly to the plight of the people of Olilim. Subsequently, Dr Hatwib Mugasa in his letter dated 31st August, 2020, has informed Hon Ogwang that the Authority will this FY, embark on connecting NBI to Olilim Military Training School and Olilim Health Centre II.
"We pleased to inform you that NITA-U has planned for extension of connectivity to the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI) for the above mentioned institutions in the Financial Year 2021/2022," the letter reads.
NITA-U is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, to coordinate and regulate Information Technology services in Uganda.
Similarly, Minister Ogwang also wrote to the Ministry of Energy to provide electricity to Olilim Military schools. Indeed, Ministry of Energy PS Emmanuel Mugunga has written to the Acting ED Rural Electrification Agency to send a team to Olilim to survey and plan to connect electricity in Olilim training schools.
