The Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth II's husband of more than 70 years has died. He was 99 years old.
He passed earlier this morning at Windsor Castle.
The Royal Family announced the news via a Twitter statement this afternoon.
In its official statement, the Royal Family announced the Prince died "peacefully".
The full statement reads: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
"Further announcements will made in due course.
"The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss."
