The Commissioner General of Prisons Dr. Johnson Byabashaija announced the promotion of 2755 junior officers.
According to the commissioner general, 106 officers were elevated to the rank of Principal Officer I, 13 to the rank of Principal Officer II, 198 to the rank of Chief Warder/ Wardress I, 194 to the rank of Chief Warder/ Wardress II and 325 to the rank of Chief Warder/ Wardress III
Dr. Byabashiaja in a statement noted that 963 officers were promoted to the rank of Sergent/ Matron
and 956 to the rank of Corporal / Assistant Matron.
The promotions were agreed on during the 28th Prisons Council Meeting held at the Imperial Royale Hotel on November 30.
