Byabashaija Shuffles Senior Prisons Officers

The Commission General of Prisons Dr. Johnson Byabashaija made changes in the top leadership of the Uganda Prisons Service.

According to a December 15 statement, over 20 officers were affected by the changes that included transfers, appointments, and some officers were sent on leave.

"These orders take immediate effect unless otherwise stated," the statement reads. "All leave must strictly be taken outside the Institutions. "

Below is the list:

1. Mr. Josephat Semate Karubanga, ACP, Regional Prisons Commander Kigezi, Kabale, is transferred to Central Region Kampala as Regional Commander.  He takes over from Mr. Jolly Joe Bamutura, ACP, who is transferred to Mid-Central Region, Mubende, as Regional Prisons Commander.
2. Mr. Godfrey Obbo, SSP, Regional Prisons Commander Mid-Central, Mubende, is transferred to Southern Region, Masaka as Regional Prisons Commander.  He takes over from Mr. Christopher Okware, SSP, who proceeds on 3 months of Administrative leave.
3. Mr. Festo Sambya, SSP, District Prisons Commander is transferred to Kigezi Region, Kabale, as Regional Prisons Commander.
4.  Mr. Geoffrey Natabona Mangeni, SP from leave he is appointed District Prisons Commander Masindi.
5.  Mr. Edrine Kitumba, ASP, U.G. Prison Farm Mubuku is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Erute.  He takes over from Ms. Faith Norah Malinga, SP, who has retired from the Service.
6. Mr. David Idoke, ASP, U.G. Prison Muinaina is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Kabula.  He takes over from Mr. Aramanzani Kakonge, P.O.II, who is suspended from duty pending disciplinary action. Mr. Henry Kidega, SP, Officer in Charge U.G. Prison Ssaza should institute Orderly Room Proceedings without delay.
7. Mr. Kenneth Nekambi, ASP, U.G. Prison Kakiika is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Wakyato.  He takes over from Mr. David Pemba Keke, ASP, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
8. Ms. Esther Lamunu, ASP, U.G. Prison Kauga is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Ngogwe.  She takes over from Mr. Michael Midiwo Amoshe, ASP, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
9. Mr. William Twebaze, P.O.I, U.G. Prison Kauga is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Buvuma.  He takes over from Mr. Gabriel Koma Tamale, P.O.I, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
10. Mr. Walter Otyang, P.O.II, U.G. Prison Kassanda is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Otuke.  He takes over from Mr. Patrick Epila, ASP, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
11. Mr. James Norbert Wokorach, P.O.II, U.G. Prison Kijjumba is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Kangulumira.  He takes over from Mr. George Vuciri, P.O.II, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
12. Mr. Richard Kiriggwajjo, P.O.II, U.G. Prison Jinja Main is appointed Officer in Charge, U.G. Prison Kayonza.  He takes over from Mr. Alfred Ongom, P.O.I, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
