President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met with the U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, at State House, Entebbe, to discuss strategies for ending the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The meeting held on 4th November 2024,  included the U.S. Ambassador to Uganda, William W. Popp, focused on security concerns and approaches to fostering dialogue and reconciliation in Sudan.

Perriello commended Museveni for his active role in supporting peace efforts, noting, “We came to seek your wise counsel and guidance on this matter.”

Museveni underscored the importance of dialogue to bring stability, a principle he has consistently advocated in his mediation efforts.

The discussion also involved Uganda’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Ambassador Adonia Ayebare, who highlighted the importance of aligning with the African Union's Peace and Security Council communique on Sudan.
