President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned Lot 1 of the Kampala Flyover Project. The project is aimed at easing traffic congestion in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
It includes the Clock Tower Flyover, an underpass at Nsambya Junction, and improvements to key roads and intersections.
Lot 1 features a 584-meter flyover at the Clock Tower, a 375.8-meter underpass at Nsambya, and pedestrian bridges at Shoprite (92 meters), Clock Tower (238.76 meters), and Kibuli (40 meters).
Additionally, the project involves widening 3,190 meters of road and upgrading major junctions at Shoprite, Clock Tower, Nsambya, Hospital, and Kibuli.
It also includes improved drainage systems with new box culverts at St. Denis, Pan African, and Kayuga, enhancing safety for both pedestrians and motorists.
While commissioning the project, President Museveni urged citizens to avoid littering, stressing its impact on sustainable infrastructure development.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining the roads and ensuring efficient traffic management.
The Kampala Flyover Project is expected to reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and improve accessibility in the city.
