Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) and road safety advocate Joseph Beyanga, popularly known as Joe Walker, have once again joined forces to raise awareness about road safety.
The fourth edition of the Joe Walker Road Safety Walk ran from February 24 to March 7, 2025, covering 340km from Kampala to Gulu. This initiative, which has become a key part of road safety advocacy in Uganda, engaged communities along the route in discussions on responsible road use and accident prevention.
As the official hydration partner, CCBU ensured that Joe Walker and his team remained refreshed throughout the journey by providing Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water and carbonated soft drinks. Speaking about the initiative, Kirunda Magoola, CCBU’s Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability Director, stressed the importance of hydration during such a demanding exercise.
He also reaffirmed CCBU’s commitment to promoting safer roads, recalling the company's 2022 "Zero is Possible" campaign, which aimed to educate both staff and the public on reducing road fatalities and fostering a culture of safety.
Joe Walker expressed gratitude for CCBU’s continued support, noting that their partnership has played a significant role in sustaining the campaign over the years. He emphasised that their collaboration reflects a shared goal of making Uganda’s roads safer for everyone.

Throughout the walk, Joe Walker and his team actively engaged different groups to promote safer road practices. School outreach programmes were conducted to educate students on road safety, while boda-boda riders participated in activities aimed at encouraging responsible riding. Traffic police officers were also involved in discussions on improving road safety measures, reinforcing the need for collaborative efforts.
Additionally, zebra crossings were painted to enhance pedestrian safety, and drivers received training on responsible driving habits.
The Joe Walker Road Safety Campaign continues to tackle Uganda’s road safety challenges by advocating for better road practices and fostering meaningful dialogue with communities. With CCBU’s backing, the initiative remains a powerful force in the push for safer roads across the country.
